Against

A - Against is a letter in Rolypolys no Nanakorobi Yaoki.

Plot

Pon is walking through a city, passing by various market stands. After ignoring two differently colored Jumping Jack Bu's trying to sell him food, he comes across Banaten offering a VR shooting game. Pon, excited, hands over three gold coins and equips the headset with a virtual rifle. The game consists of a virtual Cho flying around the screen, who the player has 100 chances to shoot by clicking to fire a bullet. After a successful hit (which occurs automatically if the player misses all 100 shots) the virtual Cho breaks into pieces on the floor, then suddenly reassembles himself. He fades into the real Cho, comes towards the screen, then pulls his own rifle out and blasts Pon.

Moral

Explanation

"Literally: Even a poor shot hits if he shoots enough.

As we see from the Japanese version of this kotowaza, you are likely to hit the mark if you try often enough—even if you are a hopeless marksman like Pon. So, do you practice hard and become good enough to hit what you aim at, when you aim at it; or do you leave everything to chance, and hope that you are lucky enough and have enough chances? And when it comes to flinging mud, you can be sure that some of it will stick even to the most unlikely (and often undeserving) surfaces."
