Anonymous Animals is a partially found series of graphic artwork by Osamu Sato. Several pieces could be viewed on OSD's now-defunct website.
Exhibition
There was a solo exhibition for Anonymous Animals held at the Tierrart Gallery in Tokyo[1], which took place from November 4-21 1992[2]. According to an interview in the Japanese magazine Illustration, 20-30 creature designs would be shown.[3]
Partially Lost Status
There are 11 designs currently known to the community, 9 of which are from the online gallery. One missing picture was discovered by a Japanese Twitter user in an art textbook[4]. Another was found in the aforementioned magazine Illustration.
Trivia
- T.B.C., a character from Eastern Mind, has a 2D design in the Tong-Nou Illustrated Book, which originated in this series. An image below showing this design compared to an early 3D render was sourced from a 1994 issue of the magazine MacJapan Bros.
- A character that is also from Eastern Mind, Moku-gyou’s 2D design in the Tong-Nou Illustrated Book can be also seen in this series. The design can also be seen in the Xia-Che music video.
- Several artworks of Anonymous Animals can also be seen in other works of Sato. For example, the music video of Xia-Che and I LOVE YOU.
