The Spy (almost always referred to as the Gray Man in online communities) is an entity who appears in Kyoto, HAPPY TOWN, and Violence District as well as the sub-areas of Kyoto and Violence District. The Spy manifests by randomly appearing in these levels and chasing the player until contact. Upon colliding with the player, the screen will flash white and the current Flashback might be erased.
Avoiding
The player has various means to evade the Spy when he appears, ordered by effectiveness:
- Holding to look up, which makes him intangible
- Moving backwards
- Quickly running into the nearest wall
