The Tong-Nou Illustrated Book ( 
, 東脳図絵) is an item in Eastern Mind: The Lost Souls of Tong-Nou. It is "an anonymous old book that describes and illustrates the Tong-Nou world". It contains multiple chapters worth of information about Tong-Nou, ranging from its history, maps of the island, the four lands, and the Central Mountain, information on each of the characters, items, and marketplace that appears in the game, a prophecy about the island's future, and a "Scripture of Clues" that hosts Scrolls for each of the five Magatamas.
Obtaining
There are two ways to obtain the book--one via discovering it, and one via trade.
- The first is to enter the tunnel to the Land of Time through the left cheek--in the stone chamber, a chest is readily available, which houses the Book.
- Alternatively, you can trade a Hitogata, an Amulet or a Peach to Mai-chiu in the Phantom Marketplace Hou-ang for the book.
Notably, the book can be stolen by Ichi-a-mong, though it is infinitely renewable so long as the player trades a Peach for it in the Phantom Marketplace.
Usage
The book itself may simply be used from the inventory itself at any time. Upon exiting the book, the player will be returned directly to where they were.

The book is split into eight chapters, as well as five "scrolls". All eight chapters are immediately available at the start of the game. However, the scrolls' page contents are obfuscated until the player has the scrolls' respective Magatama (For example, the Scroll of Fire pages are hidden until obtaining the Fire Magatama).
In addition, the Tong-Nou Book has three bookmarks--one red, one blue, and one green. The player can insert them to any given page of the book, and use them to quickly navigate to the page in the future by clicking on them from another page. The player can also remove the bookmarks if need be by clicking on them when the page is already selected.
