There are five distinct music videos; one for each distinct track. After the intro, the next 8 segments will play in a randomized order. In between each video, a short segue plays. Only after watching all of these would the final track, Frozen Frogs, reveal itself on the original Video CD.

Its rarity was proven to be high, and for years the disc's contents had not surfaced online. Aside from the fact that it contained several music videos by Sato, little to no info about its contents was known, with the only evidence of its existence is a mention on the official Outside Directors Company website, a small, low-quality scan of the cover that looks to have been found in a catalog, and its price at the time (which would be around $45 in 2016, not adjusting for inflation).

In February 2018, a copy of The Esoteric Retina was auctioned on eBay, being sold with a winning bid of $717.00. The disc's contents were ripped and made available online in late June 2018.

The Key of Gold (鍵) is an item in Eastern Mind: The Lost Souls of Tong-Nou. It is acquired in the Room of Greed Tong-shi, by clicking the small bowl in the middle on one of the shelves around the edge of the room. It can then be used to open the chest of drawers in the centre of the room, and open one of the three compartments.
