'''Osamu Sato''' (佐藤理, Satō Osamu) is a Japanese digital artist, photographer, and composer. His first published work was the ambient music album [[Objectless (1983)]]. His first work in the video game industry was [[Eastern Mind: The Lost Souls of Tong-Nou]], which first released in Japan for Classic Mac OS in 1994, and in North America for Microsoft Windows the following year. In 1998, he produced and composed the music for the video game [[LSD: Dream Emulator]] on the PlayStation, which later became his most recognizable work outside of Japan.

==Personal Life==
He was born on April 14, 1960 in Kyoto, Japan. His brother, [[Takumi Sato]], was a ceramics artist. Both his father and grandfather were photographers<ref>All Things Must Be Equal (Art Book)</ref>. Sato studied photographic science and graphic design<ref>https://www.osamusato.net/#about</ref>, graduating from the Kyoto Institute of Design and Kyoto Saga Art College<ref>The Art of Computer Designing (English), p. 128</ref>. During his time as a student, he taught himself how to play a synthesizer and released his first album [[Objectless (1983)]]. He also learned design and color composition from a kimono dyeing master, which was the origin of his taste of traditional Japanese color design. As Pon is walking across a bridge, Cho runs him over with a motorcycle. As Pon is walking through the streets of a city, Cho appears in a window and shoots him with a rifle. As Pon is walking back to his house, Cho comes out of a trash can and punches him with a boxing glove. Back at Pon's house, we see Cho walk away from it with a lighter. Pon comes home to a lit stick of dynamite in his food bowl, which explodes off-screen.

It is the sequel to [[Rolypolys no Nanakorobi Yaoki]], which released eight months prior.

Unlike its predecessor, the game has an overarching plotline involving [[Otane-chan]], a music idol, being kidnapped by an evil [[Tengu]]; she can only be freed by the Roly Polys gathering 7 keys scattered around the world. The gameplay centers around the Roly Polys flying to every continent of Earth in [[Banaten]]'s spaceship, the [[Banabana Mk. 1]], while learning about the geography and culture of various countries.

==Former Lost Media Status==
Prior to its discovery, several archived listings existed on Japanese auction sites as well as one recent one in July 2020, and one image of the game in-box had surfaced. Aside from several small screenshots on the game's official webpage, no gameplay footage existed online until Rolypolys no Nanakorobi Yaoki was found, which contained a [https://youtu.be/Sw2EP5A0Rbw video trailer]. This trailer was rendered in-engine, meaning its assets could be ripped.

A playable demo appears on the coverdisc for the January 15, 1998 issue of MacPeople magazine. This demo only contains a portion of the North American area. An ISO file of this disc was shared on October 27, 2021.

Unknown to the community until the full game was found, BakuDD acquired a sealed copy back in 2022. In January of 2023, he told another collector, beanstalk, that he owned it but was hesitant to open it. The two reached a deal where, in exchange for BakuDD opening and dumping the game, beanstalk would buy a limited edition Japanese 3DO game and ship it to BakuDD.

The game was ultimately made available to the wider internet on May 31st, 2023. The checksum data was confirmed on [http://redump.org/disc/104875/ Redump] before it was dropped onto the Internet Archive the same day. BakuDD didn't post the link directly, instead teasing its existence in [https://www.reddit.com/r/OsamuSato/comments/13wvocp/httpredumporgdisc104875/ this post to r/osamusato]; within minutes, it was found almost simultaneously by several members of the community, with the link initially posted by Camwoodstock & Tori. It was streamed by users adam and Super on the Osamu Sato Discord the same day, and for the next few days, Super would continue to stream the game on the Discord until successfully completing the game.

==Walkthrough==
The Octagonal Shrine's only practical application is as the site of the very end of the game. If the player is not yet done, they should probably retreat. In addition, once the player uses the [[Katana of Five Forces]], Rin is locked into the finale sequence and can no longer retreat. Once the player is ready, they may use the Katana of Five Forces while facing the spinning web to initiate the final sequence, slice the webbing and grab his Earth Magatama. Upon obtaining the final Magatama, the slough of Rin's soul appears, and Rin must approach it and insert the five Magatamas of his soul.

Upon successfully doing so, Rin's soul will return, and Tou-gyou will appear to speak to Rin. After his speech, a fifth statue appears (of Tou-gyou himself), as Rin's soul flies from the Octagonal Shrine, the camera panning upwards, and the final text crawl begins before the credits.
