A Game Over is a game mechanic that appears in Eastern Mind: The Lost Souls of Tong-Nou and Chu-Teng. A "Game Over" is a term used in video games where the player has died, run out of extra lives or chances, and has ultimately lost the game. As adventure games, Eastern Mind and Chu-Teng define this differently, courtesy of their unique design and the former's Reincarnation mechanic.

In Eastern Mind
In Eastern Mind, due to the Reincarnation mechanic, dying does not mean the player receives a Game Over should Rin or any of his reincarnations die. However, there is still one possible place to put the game in a Game Over state where the player has "lost" and cannot continue without either loading their save, or starting a New Game.

In the Room of Immortality Pu-ryao, should the player drink the Moon Water and not have the Sun Water to counter-act it, Rin will receive immortality. However, because he can no longer reincarnate, Rin can no longer acquire his Soul, and will be forced to live within a never ending time. The player cannot progress in this state, nor can they save the game after this sequence; like Pu-ryao suggests, the player must either open a prior save, or create a new save and "abandon all possessions".

Afterwards, the game screen turns into an endless collage of sprites and dialogue from various locations in the game, appearing at random positions on-screen. Occasionally, a screen transition will occur, wiping the screen before restarting the collage. The Furoshiki cannot be accessed from this screen.

Trivia
* The data for the Immortality sequence is stored in a file called G_SSAVER. It's possible that it was planned to include a screensaver with the game that was the Immortality sequence.
* Both English and Japanese dialogue is featured in the Immortality sequence, even in the English version.
* The screenshots featured in the Immortality sequence feature many early renders of the various locations, including a Land of Dreaming Mon-chien with less shiny crystals, a Land of Life Ming-ken with a red sky, a Helix Tower Luo-shang with a blue carpeted floor, and a Land of Time Shi-chieng with gray grass.
* Quite bafflingly, one screenshot features a scene from the ending, of Rin's glowing soul rising from the Central Mountain. There is no way for the player to see this sequence if the player obtains immortality, as it is past the point of no return; thusly, its inclusion seems to either be a misnomer, or a hold-over from when the sequence was intended to be a mere screensaver.
* In addition, one screenshot seems to be of a location that did not make it into the game, or is a placeholder; a room with a green, gravelly floor and walls, with two yellow pillars and three holes. The identity of this room is a mystery, but it's theorized it may either be an early version of Non-fai due to the general texture and presence of small objects on the walls, or an early version of Sha's chamber in Yui-wang as the three items on the wall loosely line up with where the instruments are placed in the final room.

In Chu-Teng
In Chu-Teng, because of the lack of Reincarnation, deaths are more directly harmful, and do indeed force the player to either load a prior save or start a New Game, much like more standard Adventure games. However, sources of Game Overs are very easily spotted, so it is unlikely the player will encounter them on accident.

Should the player get a Game Over, they get a brief cutscene of Rin flattening into nothing, before Nan-shu's eye floats by, revealing the text "GAME OVER". Much like in Eastern Mind, the player cannot save on this screen, nor can they open the Furoshiki.

Ways to encounter Game Over in Chu-Teng includes:
* Getting killed by Kui.
* Interact two times during the Meditation Screen.
* Getting killed during battling with Ru-hou or Chi-tou.

The Graph (also known as the Chart) is a grid that appears at the end of every dream in LSD: Dream Emulator, as well as when selected from the main menu. According to the LSD Manual Cards, the Graph is a representation of the player's mental state after the previous dream. The current graph position (not the one at the beginning or end of a dream, but the one actively being updated as the player moves) is responsible for mostly every random event in the game.

Graph formula
The Graph depends on values that have been invisibly assigned to chunks (parts of the field, or level) and entities. All of this was discovered by hgs..
Individual Value (IV) is a number assigned to individual chunks and characters. For chunks IVA is used and for characters IVB is used.<br>
For Day 001 and after every Special Dream, the graph is set to (0,0) (which corresponds to Linen's nose). This means it will start in Bright Moon Apartment.
It is located above the Earth, in outer space. Chu-Teng takes the form of a triangle, with one of the three palaces of the Sun, Moon, and Stars at each point. These palaces are connected by roads, forming the sides of the triangle. This triangle revolves around the Magatama Planet. There is also the Milky Way, which connects Chu-Teng to the Earth. Outside of Chu-Teng is Ge-Teng, the source of the invading darkness.
Conception of Chu-Teng
Chu-Teng was formed following the end of Eastern Mind. After Tou-gyou was freed by Rin, he flung a pure Magatama into outer space and the sun, moon, and stars ascended toward it. They began to revolve around the Magatama and connected in a triangular formation. A barrier of their combined energies formed around the Magatama, which led to the creation of the Magatama Planet. Each of the celestial bodies created their own respective palaces and took on corporeal forms. The sun created the Sun Palace and took the form of Tai-yang, the moon created the Moon Palace and took the form of Yue-yin, and the stars created the Star Palace and took the form of Suin-shin.
It was only available for purchase through the company, in a similar fashion to the Linen Sampler promo CD. Compu Movie's page on the old OSD website (Japanese) claims it features music by Shinobu Narita, Sato himself, and The Sync (produced by Goh Hotoda).

In February of 2022, we got our closest ever look at Compu Movie with a 1994 edition of DIG MAG, a digital magazine for Mac. The disc contains a virtual art gallery with work by Sato, Hideki Nakazawa, and others.

In March of 2022, an interview of Sato with a Japanese magazine named Quit was unearthed. In the interview, Sato discusses Compu Movie and his early work. The scans were made by the user beanstalk, and shared by FELON. A transcription of this interview was also made by Chia.

In April of 2024, Sato posted a tweet with the first known image of Compu Movie's cover in full color, claiming to have found it in storage. A copy of Compu Movie was sold in a lucky bag at Sato's April 13 live event in Tokyo. It was purchased by community member Nnnn and the purchase was funded by mav6771. Digitization is currently being planned.

Deme Kume Chame-Go
In Sato's Next Beat interview, there are brief clips of a 3D animation titled "Deme Kume Chame-Go". Shown below this title is the text "コンピュムービーより", which translates to "From Compu Movie".

The Face
"The Face", also known as "Face the Music" is a song by Osamu Sato with several different mixes. A portion of this music video appeared on the "DIG MAG" CD-ROM. It appears to be an early version of The Esoteric Retina's "Face the Music" video, bearing several similarities.

Astor Magic, Golden Flowers
Not much is known about these videos. "Astor Magic" is a song by The Sync off of their album Beat the System. "Golden Flowers" is speculated to be by Sato, because of an item in Eastern Mind with the same name.

Alphabetical Animals
The July 1994 edition of Wired magazine features a short interview with Sato, and also mentions the presence of an Alphabetical Orgasm video on Compu Movie. They most likely meant to say Alphabetical Animals instead, since the artwork in the video matches that series and it's labeled as such in the print advertisement and Next Beat interview.

A presumably clipped version of the full video is available on OSD's YouTube Channel, titled "ABC.mov".

The "DIG MAG" CD-ROM features an interactive version of this video, with animations for every letter and several words ("LOVE", "AND", "PEACE", "FOOL"). These animations appear to be the same as featured in screenshots, but possibly run too quickly in emulators. The screenshot featuring Sato's face doesn't appear here, but rather in the CD-ROM's "I LOVE YOU" video.

I LOVE YOU
This video on the OSD310 Youtube channel was speculated to be from Compu Movie for years before the print advertisement lent more credence to this theory.

The description claims it was produced for Tierrart, the same company which released Compu Movie. Like ABC.mov, it features elements (in this case, numbers) from Alphabetical Animals. It also appears to fade out prematurely, implying there's more to be seen.

Lastly, since several of the clips from the OSD310 channel ended up originating from The Esoteric Retina (Xia-Che, Trancemigration, The Earth is Round), it seems plausible that this would also be the case with Compu Movie.

Another portion of this video was found on the "DIG MAG" CD-ROM. Most of the soundtrack had never been heard before, except for one section which also features in a different part of the Youtube upload. The motif of a spinning Sato portrait appears in this video, which may have partially inspired "The Earth is Round".

Compu Movie (コンピュムービー) is a VHS tape released by Tierrart (ティエラルト) in January 1994, featuring a collection of Amiga and Macintosh computer animations produced by OSD for various clients. It was only available for purchase through the company, in a similar fashion to the Linen Sampler promo CD. Compu Movie's page on the old OSD website (Japanese) claims it features music by Shinobu Narita, Sato himself, and The Sync (produced by Goh Hotoda).

Compu Movie is considered lost media, as it has not surfaced in full on the internet. However, several clips have been released by Osamu Sato himself, as detailed in the following sections. These clips include:
In the interview, Sato discusses Compu Movie and his early work. The scans were made by the user beanstalk, and shared by FELON. A transcription of this interview was also made by Chia.

In April of 2024, Sato posted a tweet with the first known image of Compu Movie's cover in full color, claiming to have found it in storage.
Rolypolys' World Tour) is a 1997 point-and-click adventure game developed by Directors Company and published by Shinko Music Entertainment. It is the sequel to Rolypolys no Nanakorobi Yaoki, which released eight months prior.

Plot
Unlike its predecessor, the game has an overarching plotline involving Otane-chan, a music idol, being kidnapped by an evil Tengu; she can only be freed by the Roly Polys gathering 7 keys scattered around the world. The gameplay centers around the Roly Polys flying to every continent of Earth in Banaten's spaceship, the Banabana Mk. 1, while learning about the geography and culture of various countries.

Former Lost Media Status
Prior to its discovery, several archived listings existed on Japanese auction sites as well as one recent one in July 2020, and one image of the game in-box had surfaced. Aside from several small screenshots on the game's official webpage, no gameplay footage existed online until Rolypolys no Nanakorobi Yaoki was found, which contained a video trailer. This trailer was rendered in-engine, meaning its assets could be ripped.

A playable demo appears on the coverdisc for the January 15, 1998 issue of MacPeople magazine. This demo only contains a portion of the North American area. An ISO file of this disc was shared on October 27, 2021.

Unknown to the community until the full game was found, BakuDD acquired a sealed copy back in 2022. In January of 2023, he told another collector, beanstalk, that he owned it but was hesitant to open it. The two reached a deal where, in exchange for BakuDD opening and dumping the game, beanstalk would buy a limited edition Japanese 3DO game and ship it to BakuDD.

The game was ultimately made available to the wider internet on May 31st, 2023. The checksum data was confirmed on Redump before it was dropped onto the Internet Archive the same day. BakuDD didn't post the link directly, instead teasing its existence in this post to r/osamusato; within minutes, it was found almost simultaneously by several members of the community, with the link initially posted by Camwoodstock & Tori. It was streamed by users adam and Super on the Osamu Sato Discord the same day, and for the next few days, Super would continue to stream the game on the Discord until successfully completing the game.

Known copies
As of May 31st, 2023, there are currently 8 known copies of "Rolypolys no Sekai Daibōken". While it's possible that some of the unaccounted-for copies are the same as others, it is generally accepted that each of these copies are unique, as there is zero evidence to the contrary. Each of these copies are given a conjectural nickname for ease of discussion.

Obtaining
The only way to obtain the Wind Chime is by trading. It is acquired in the Phantom Marketplace Hou-ang by trading Mai-chiu an Eyeball-Stone.

Usage
<!-- The alleged use this item has with San-a-mong is not actually in the game, and was a false memory. Don't add it. -->
The only practical use for the Wind Chime is to trade it again along with an Eyeball-Stone to receive an Amulet from Mai-chiu. Aside from this, should the Wind Chime be used from the inventory, it will play a strange sound. However, there is no practical use for this.

If the player has the Wind Chime, it's possible for Yo-a-mong to steal it if the player loses his gambling game.
It is the sequel to Rolypolys no Nanakorobi Yaoki, which released eight months prior.

The plot opens with "everyone's idol" Otane-chan being kidnapped by an evil tengu; she can only be freed by the Roly Polys gathering 6 keys scattered around the world. The gameplay centers around the Roly Polys flying to every continent of Earth in Banaten's spaceship, the Banabana Mk. 1, while learning about the geography and culture of various countries.
Lost Media Status
Prior to its discovery, several old listings existed on Japanese auction sites as well as one recent one in July 2020, and one image of the game in-box had surfaced. Aside from several small screenshots on the publisher's original site, no gameplay footage existed online until Rolypolys no Nanakorobi Yaoki was found, which contained a video trailer. This trailer was rendered in-engine, meaning its assets could be ripped.

The January 15, 1998 issue of Japanese magazine MacPeople came with a demo of the game as part of its included CD. This disc was uploaded to the internet on October 27, 2021. The demo only contains parts of the North American area of the game, and does not contain any data for the other areas.

The game was ultimately discovered on May 31st, 2023, ripped and dumped by BakuDD. The checksum data was confirmed on Redump, before it was dropped onto the Internet Archive the same day; it was streamed by adam and Super on the Osamu Sato Discord the same day.

Known copies
As of May 31st, 2023, there are currently 8 known copies of Rolypolys no Nanakorobi. While it's possible that some of these copies are the same as others, it is generally accepted that each of these copies are unique as there is zero evidence to the contrary. Each of these copies are given a conjectural nickname for ease of discussion.
●▲■ (or マルサンカクシカク, or Maru Sankaku Shikaku, or Circle Triangle Square as it would be translated in English) was an app created by Outside Directors Company, P.R.O. Corp, and Creators Guild Company for iPhone mobile devices. It allowed users to create their own artwork in the style of Rhythm 'n' Face by dragging around circles, triangles, and squares, a process from which the app gets its name. It was first advertised on 28 April 2010 and has since been discontinued. It was succeeded by KIMOKAWA, a similar but less-complex app where users would create a base then drag-and-drop preset stickers onto it.

Upon opening, the app featured four buttons: Draw, Gallery, Sample, and Setting.
* Draw was the main mode of the app, where users could create and save art.
* Gallery displayed an image gallery of creations saved in Draw mode.
* Sample was a second gallery of creations made by OSD themselves. Clicking on a Sample image showed a replay of how it was made within the app, this was also possibly a feature in gallery mode.
* Setting presumably contained standard configuration settings for the app.

Draw mode
Draw mode contained a white grid, with a toolbar on the bottom featuring buttons labelled: TOP, ●, ▲, ■, [an icon of a circle being dragged out of another circle], DONE.

Color toolbar
Above the buttons was a small color toolbar, with two arrows on each side to change the palette. Tapping a color would apply it to the current shape.

●, ▲, and ■ buttons
Clicking one of these buttons would place the shape in the center of the grid, where it could then be manipulated by pinching the screen to change its size or dragging to move it. Shapes would snap to fit with the background grid when resized or moved.

Other buttons
Before the shape icons was a gray button labelled "TOP"; what this would have done is unknown, but it likely would have returned to the main menu.

After the shape icons was a duplicate button, which would make a copy of the last-selected shape on top of itself. After the duplicate button was a red "DONE" button that would open a dialogue box to save the image.
Rhythm 'n' Face (リズムンフェイス, Rizumunfeisu) is a rhythm video game developed by Directors Company and published by Asmik Ace Entertainment for the Playstation. The game was released in Japan on March 9th, 2000.

Gameplay
The goal of every stage in Rhythm 'n' Face is to manipulate shapes (squares, triangles and circles) to create "faces" in sync with the stage music's beat. Pressing the Circle, Square, and Triangle buttons will select the respective shape and place it in the center of the grid, pressing the L1 and R1 buttons will increase and decrease the size of the shape, and pressing the D-Pad buttons will move the shape on the grid.

Each stage is comprised of a series of two short phases: a computer player will select a shape and manipulate it into a specific size and position, and the player must then copy the computer player's actions while keeping on-beat. If the player doesn't get a shape near the correct position and size before the end of their phase, they lose one life. If the player loses all four of their lives, they must restart the stage. If the player keeps correctly placing shapes, they will rack up a combo and gain a life back (assuming they have lost any). If the combo is high enough, the game will start the player's shapes in a random position on the grid to throw them off and further challenge them to keep their combo going.

At the end of a stage, the player is ranked in two categories: "Rhythm" and "Face", on a scale from 0 to 50. "Rhythm" measures how well the player did in keeping on-beat (as well as how many extra actions they did successfully), and "Face" is used to measure how accurate the player's face is to the intended face.

Completing all four routes will unlock the ability to toggle three additional settings in the options menu:
* Texture: Overlays a texture onto every shape.
* Fukuwarai: Makes the active shape as well as all previously placed shapes invisible until the end of the stage.
* Duet: [W.I.P.]

If you get 350 total points on any route, that route's bonus stage will be unlocked. The bonus stages act as free-paint modes, allowing you to make faces without having to worry about rhythmic timing or copying the computer player's actions.
* Make URLs pretty (remove the "index.php?title=" portion)
* You know, make some pages. Just in general.
** Possibly use grabbers to take pages from the abandoned Eastern Mind/Chu-Teng wiki? No idea how good they would be.
*** Isn't that plagarism? Does Fandom even allow for Creative Commons? Ga-show (talk) 22:20, 24 March 2022 (PDT)
**** Wiki grabbers are used all the time in actual migrations of wikis, and are officially defined by Wikipedia itself. Considering the abandoned state of the other wikis, it may be fine? Either way, seeing as we plan to rewrite all those articles as-is, it may not be too big a deal... * Possibly additional maintenance templates like a robust "todo" template with a field that can be customized.
* Sourcing some external information stuff.
* Proper Bulk File Upload would be nice. The current plugin (MsUpload) relies on another plugin, which may actually be fairly useful in of itself.
** Making a flexible Eastern Mind Character infobox that fits both reincarnations, kings, and side-characters
* Making the Place pages
** Making a Place infobox
* Create redirects for common spellings or capitalizations or other such things (e.g. Eyeglasses for Eye-Glasses, Eyeball Stone for Eyeball-Stone (currently low-priority, creating the pages themselves is an upper priority)
* Add more images for Items, namely their images in the world of Tong-Nou and not just their furoshiki icons (currently lowest-priority, would be nice to have and to work on in the future, but not the focus)

* Album navbox. It bears repeating.
** General-purpose media navbox covers this now Ga-show (talk) 07:01, 22 October 2022 (PDT)
* Tracklist formatting like on Wikipedia.
* Samples/elements reused from old games (e.g. Dr. Boochang Lee bass loop in Wolfunkadelic).
* Potentially making pages for certain songs (e.g. I Love You, Tong Nou Theme, Come On And).

Osamu Sato
* Realistically this is just the one page about the guy but, yeah, actually expanding upon it would be good.
* Make pages for various exhibitions he has hosted
* Books

Meta
* Expanding the scope of the Meta section itself would be good.
** Maybe make pages about certain notable community things? That's to be decided, though.

:This article is about the Central Mountain. For the island itself, see Tong-Nou.
Tong-Nou, the Central Mountain is one of the five lands in Eastern Mind. It is the site of the finale of the game, in which Rin must regain his soul. It can be warped to easily from other lands, as well as the island itself, by the Chu-teng symbol.

Layout
The Central Mountain is fairly linear. Upon arriving on the ground, there is a seal which must be opened with the Nameplates. The player can turn around to turn back at any point, though they may come face-to-face with one of the members of the A-mong family. After breaking the seal, there are a set of stairs with Tou-gyou's emblem atop one step. At the very top of the stairs is the the top of the mountain; the site of the Octagonal Shrine, Par-fang.

Inhabitants
*Tou-gyou
*San-a-mong

Items
*Force of Earth
*Katana

Walkthrough
The player has no real reason to enter the central mountain until the endgame, when they have all nine nameplates. If the player has been efficient, they may even have all four of the currently accessible Magatamas (Fire, Wood, Metal, and Water) before this as well. If not, the player will need to acquire them for what is about to come.

Upon placing all Nameplates in the seal, the seal and the nameplates will vanish, removing them from your inventory and letting you pass through to the stairway. Scaling it, the player will come face to face with Tou-gyou. If Rin has all the Magatamas, Tou-gyou will give the him the Force of Earth, before being tasked with collecting the remaining four forces. A full summary of all four places is beneath:
* The second force can be found in Yui-wang, the Land of Desire.
* The third force can be found in Mon-chien, the Land of Dreaming.
* The fourth force can be found in Ming-ken, the Land of Life.
* The fifth and final force can be found in Shi-chieng, the Land of Time.

After acquiring all five forces, returning them to Tou-gyou will grant Rin the Katana of the Five Forces. If the player wants to do anything else, they may do it now. Otherwise, they can proceed forwards to the Octagonal Shrine, Par-fang.

* Duet: [W.I.P.]

If you get 350 total points on any route, that route's bonus stage will be unlocked. The bonus stages act as free-paint modes, allowing you to make faces without having to worry about rhythmic timing or copying the computer player's actions.
Moku-gyou is the king of the Land of Life Ming-ken. He frequently stutters and repeats entire words, is deathly afraid of wooden objects and ants, and on his head is a bird that is supposed to eat ants. Moku-gyou is embedded in the Tree of Life Mingke-shu, and the player must scare him with the Koma or Ant to enter the Tree of Life through his mouth.

Trivia
* Moku-gyou has an extremely obscure line: as Tou, the player must use the ant on Moku-gyou while he is explaining Tou's mission, which causes him to say: "Wha, wha, What are you doing? It's, It's no time for games.".
Bondage is a 2018 series of artwork by Osamu Sato. It has been displayed prominently on Sato's website from 2018 to the present, with a brief removal in early 2021.

As the name suggests, the artwork is explicit. It features various scenes of women in bondage, overlaid with highly saturated colors similar to the All Things Must Be Equal series.

The artwork is also available on Sato Archives and archive.org.
